Davey Lantz (b) 1991 is a New York City based jazz pianist. Born and raised in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, he had early opportunities to perform and study with fellow Pocono musicians such as Phil Woods, David Liebman and Phil Markowitz. He then moved to Manhattan to pursue his undergraduate degree at the Juilliard School, where he studied with Frank Kimbrough and Kenny Barron. Marc Copland and Fred Hersch were also important mentors at this time. Some other musicians he’s shared the stage with include Frank Wess, Carl Allen, Kenny Washington, Billy Drummond and Bill Goodwin. Davey would like his music to reach the hearts of people. He believes in the power of art for both spiritual and political transformation. He plans on continuing to study and compose, and spread his music across the globe.
